An Unforgettable Parents Meeting-----
In my childhood, parents meeting were always the thing I hated most. Thinking of parents meetings , I would think of all my unpleasant days—the endless words Mum had nagged at me . I would not be likely to be praised, but only be blamed after each parents meeting.
One year ago, I chose a boarding school far from home, hoping to avoid telling everything to my parents. As a consequence, each time I went home, I couldn’t find any topic we were all interested in. Despite the short time we spent together every week, it was silence rather than delight that filled our house. ‘Was it the so-called generation gap?’ I couldn’t stop wondering.
Time passed quickly and winter came again. It was high time to have another annoying parents meeting. One afternoon, our head teacher, Mr. Zhao , told us that we would hold a special parents meeting this time—all the students would be expected to attend it together with their parents.
I was curious to know what would happen on that day. Then, the exciting moment I was looking forward to came.
Entering the multi-media classroom, we heard a beautiful piece of music flowing in the air. Miss Wang, our psychology teacher stood in front of us. She invited all the parents to come to the stage, and to face straight up to their own children. At that moment, I made eye contact with my mother. Next, they were asked to close their eyes. Miss Wang held a passage and started to read emotionally for us “you are their angels. You spare no efforts to protect your children. Here , I appreciate all of you—our lovely parents!” It was not until then did I realize, how much courage it must have taken for years to subject themselves to both their working stress and my impassiveness. As the music was ending, I rushed onto the stage and tied my blue ribbon round my mother’s wrist, which showed my grateful heart.
At the end of the meeting, each of us wrote a letter to our parents respectively. In my letter, I wrote down all my life’s learning troubles to my mother. To my surprise, her reply was a full outpouring of understanding and love. She told me that the reason why they were so strict with me was out of love that they hoped they could help fulfill their daughter’s dream. At that moment, I blamed myself, how innocent and bad I am. I’ll always remember that special parents meeting at the bottom of my heart. Knowing that Dad and Mum will always be by my side, I’ll be able to be a brave seeker for rainbows after any storms.
