　Hello, everyone! My name is Wang Qianyun. I am 11 years old and I study in Qingdao Xinchang Road Primary School.

　My friends, how much do you know about forests? Forests are useful to human beings in many ways. They usually grow on the sides of mountains, sometimes on the plains. Wood is quite necessary for building and making many kinds of things, and we often need firewood at home. Countries that have many trees get more rain than those that are treeless. Where trees grow, such as on mountains, they prevent heavy rain from washing the earth into valleys and leaving only rocks. Trees are especially important in dry countries.

　However, long ago human beings were afraid of forests, and even feared to go into them, because people often got lost in the forests and there were many dangerous wild animals. Later, people have been cutting down too many trees and our environment has been destroyed.

　Today, people have regarded forests as their good friends. In my opinion people should acquire more knowledge with regard to forests. We all should take steps to protect our forests.

　朋友们，你们了解森林吗？森林对人们有许多用途。他们通常长在山坡上，有时长在平原上。树木对建筑和加工业来说是必需的，而且我们在家里生火也需要木材。树木多的国家比数木少的国家降雨量要多。树木生长的地方，比如说在山上，他们能阻止大雨把土壤冲进山谷里，而避免只剩下岩石裸露在外面。干旱的国家尤其需要树木。

　但是很久以前，人们惧怕森林，并且害怕走进森林。他们在森林里很容易迷路，并且有好多危险的野生动物。后来，人们不断地砍伐森林，我们的环境也遭到了极大的破坏。

　今天，人们把森林看作是人类的朋友。我认为人们应该更进一步去了解森林。我们大家都应该行动起来保护我们的森林。
