On success

Success is the goal everyone aims for. People are glad to achieve success, because it means reward for their work.

Success does not come easily. Sometimes people wish each other “good luck”. That makes it sound like everything depends on luck. We know that the key to success lies in hard work. One can only harvest after they have done hard work. One can't achieve success by doing nothing. “No pain, no gain”.

We often appreciate people who are successful in work and life. They have honor because they have achieved success. But we also know that honor doesn't come easily. I have read something about the life and work of a scientist --- Sir Isaac Newton. The thing that strikes me most is the attention and energy he devoted to his work. But we look past their success and pay attention to the efforts they have put into building their success.

Of course success depends on many things. It has to do with luck, has to do with intelligence, and other factors. Not all people can be expected to succeed in what they do. It's especially disheartening to hear people fail after they have worked hard.

In fact, success doesn't only mean fame or fortune. One's final success is made up of small achievements. Small things build up. We can progress everyday if we try hard everyday. As students, we'll be considered successful if we learn our daily lessons well. Our daily successes eventually amount to our final success. So, in its narrow sense success becomes easy for us. We need to spend everyday in a meaningful way. So then, in a broad sense, success is the accumulation of many daily achievements.
