My Lovely Cats

I Love the Cherries in My Home Town

I adore the cherries from my hometown ---- Beizhai, Qingdao. They taste sweet with a beautiful coating which has been irresistible to me since my childhood.

Every spring, around April, cherries grow all over Beizhai. They grow around the farmhouses, along the mountain paths, beside valleys and beside the creeks. The cherries are ripe within 40 days in the spring. During the harvest season, farmers stroll through their lands with small baskets and wooden hooks, singing along the way. It is splendid scenery: the red fruit and small green leaves are hanging heavy on the branches. While the breeze whistles, children play, their laughing joins with singing from the farmers, together they seem to be performing a spring symphony.

Before selling the cherries at the annual market, we get to taste them first. The pretty cherries always taste great. They are my favorite fruit. It has become part of our family tradition to make annual visits to Beizhai to see our relatives and to taste the fresh cherries in the spring. I real wish that cherries could grow all year round, so that I can visit my hometown more often.

Because of the cherries, my hometown, Beizhai, is known all over the country. I am proud of my hometown and the cherries there. I love my hometown, I love the cherries.
