Bob and Me – 我和BOB的故事

Hello everybody, my name is Sun Yunwei. You may call me Rabbit in English. I'm 8 years old this year and I study at Bei Shan primary school in Li Cang district.

Today I want to tell you a story about Mr. Bob and me. I remember it was at Mid-autumn Festival last year that my uncle invited my family to a restaurant for dinner. There I met Mr. Bob—a tall, kindly, old and interesting foreign man with white hair, a white beard and a red face. My uncle told me, “Mr. Bob is an American and has come to China from Australia for travel.” Now he is teaching English in Japan. Mr. Bob was warm-hearted. He said hello to each one of us. When he came to me, Bob asked me in English, “How old are you?” At that time, I was too nervous to open my mouth. Encouraged by my parents, I whispered “Seven”. Thinking about that night, I still have regrets. How I wished I would have known more English then! I could have asked him about his impressions of China, or the differences between China and the U.S. We would have had great conversations and could have become good friends. But I knew too little English then.

From then on, I was resolved to learn English well and to use more and more English to talk with foreign friends. Now my efforts have paid off. If I were to see Bob again, I would be able to ask him all the questions I failed to in our first meeting.
